Flachau - Ski Destination Where Legends Are Born.
People have been flocking to Flachau for years and not without good reason, It is part of a collection of resorts that make up one of the largest ski areas in Austria, The Saltzburger Sportwelt Amade Ski Area. It is home to Hermann Maier, the Olympic and World downhill champion. The resort boasts three separate ski stations, three separate valleys and around 860 km of well tendered pistes. A combination of chairlifts, draglifts, cable cars and gondolas totalling over 100 are capable of transporting over 60,000 snowboarders and skiers to their destinations. The elevation is around 1100 metres with the maximum point being at over 2000 metres.

Flachau is well suited to families, with its super wide slopes, family downhill runs and exciting winter sports. Childcare facilities are available at each valley station. Toddlers 10 months and older can be given care, by the afternoon, hour, or by the day.

Snowboarders, Absolute Park in Flachauwinkl is one of the largest terrain parks in the Alps.Absolute Park at the Shuttleberg Flachauwinkl Kleinarl ranks among the largest terrain parks in Europe with a length of 1.5 km and consists of four different sections, which are to be used all in a line: Kickerline, Railcombo, Halfpipe and Jibline.
All obstacles are maintained and reshaped on a daily basis. Above all, Absolut Park is ideally situated for catching the sun’s rays during the daylight hours. The finest in Freestyle and Free ski! The Chill House at Absolute Park is unique. It is a cool place with skate mini ramp and boulder walls, leisure area, service and depot area, videos and awesome sound.

Apres Ski & Nightlife

In the evenings, Flachau effortlessly transforms itself from a serious ski resort into a fun, party place. It offers a fantastic choice of restaurants, bars and huts ranging from cosy relaxing eateries, through to bars and discos where you can really let your hair down. Traditionally, the atmosphere at higher elevations becomes more animated.

The food here is mainly Austrian and although beautifully delicious, it tends to consist of dumplings and pastries, which aren't particularly good for the waistline, however locally or internationally, on a grand scale or merely a small dinner - it’s all available.

The shops here are mainly sports orientated; however there are several souvenir, craft and the odd fashion boutiques. If you fancy serious retail therapy and a day away from the slopes, take the 45 minute drive into Salzburg as this is a must!.
