Flaine is famous for its ski area, quality of snow cover, and variety of slopes (from beginner to expert). Its special characteristics: the altitude- range and lenght of the pistes (2500m to 1600m) and its sheer expanse (140km of slopes).
A ski resort on three levels (Flaine Front de Neige, Flaine Forum et Flaine Foret), ski-in ski-out, , Flaine is remarkable concept, a blend of modern arhitetecture and spectacular mountain scenery. Snow conditions are impressive, among the best in the French Alps, often reaching six metres depth at the Grandes Platieres.
The centre of Flaine is pedetrianised, with car parks tucked away nearby.
