Ski holidays in Schladming
For those of you who interested in world cup downhill skiing no doubt would have heard of Schladming. Ski holidays here have been an institution for well over 60 years. Situated in the province of Styria, the Schladming ski area links four mountains, opening up access to 174 kms of runs. Schladming leans slightly towards the intermediate skiers and offers over 300 kms of very impressive cross country trails. The season here is a long one, opening on the 23rd October and holding through till the 1st May. Schladming has invested heavily in snow cannons in the unlikely event that the snow is not forthcoming. Schladming has 25 lifts which can transport nearly 64,000 people every hour.

There is a wide choice of accommodation in Schladming, ranging from self-catered apartments through to lodges! Schladming has over 35 hotel to choose from ranging from cosy and comfortable 2 and 3 star properties up to luxurious 4 and 5 star establishments.
The apres ski scene is not as lively as other destinations and maintains a pleasant feel. The pedestrianised square is more of a place to relax and take in the scenery. There are several bars which stay open late and tend to attract a slightly younger crowd. Bars such as Biesl, The Hanglbar and Siglu are prime examples. There are also two nightclubs which get relatively lively.
Shopping in Schladming doesn't disappoint, it has a good selection of ski and sport shops along with high fashion outlets.
