Ski holidays in Montafon
Montafon – Ski Forays Turn To Ski Holidays
Montafon makes for a great ski getaway because of the Montafon Lift Pass that allows skiers to clamour up and down the pistes for one price. Ski pass gives access to other Austria skiing areas, such as Gargellen and St Gallenkirch. Ski furloughs for the family or with friends during the weekend become painless with the Friedrichshafen airport less than 100 km away. Montafon, moreover, has 82 ski runs, careening down the mountains for nearly 220 km. Skiing down the longest 12 km slope can take some time and getting used to, but skiers will lose almost 1000 vertical meters during the decent. This and other long runs are made possible as the altitude variance is about as long as can be had in Austria — from 3312 meters to 650 meters. The slope breakdown is equally as impressive. Montafon boasts 109 km of blue runs (great for beginners) and 78 km of red runs (Who could ask for more?) and 32 km of very challenging black runs for experts. Fresh powder awaits the skiing families and snowboarding enthusiasts in Montafon, Austria. Other snowbound activities include snow tubing, curling, sleigh rides, cross-country skiing (90+ km) tobogganing, winter hiking and ice-skating. Children will develop as the next champ with the children's slope, child lift and children’s park, where all that expensive ski gear can be rented for a good price.
Montafon has some lavish alpine chalets and hotels for those traveling with two or more. The best lodging deals are had with those who can stay for six, seven or more days. There are some apartments to rent, too, and if coming during the high season, be sure to book these up in advance. The best places get let quickly.
