Ski holidays in Innsbruck

Innsbruck the capital of the Tirol region is probably the easiest ski resort to access. The resort itself boast over 130 kms of downhill slopes which are served by 59 lifts. These lifts are capable of moving over 3,000 snowboarders and skiers per hour The runs themselves are geared mainly towards the intermediate skier with 7 red runs. There is one novice run and one expert or black ski run. There are also over 160 kms of cross country trails to chose from.

Innsbruck welcomes snowboarders and has a wide range of fun parks and pipes as well as natural jump rides dotted throughout the nine different ski areas. There is a new state of the art ski jump stadium that houses a spectacular panoramic café. In addition the resort also offers a full ski rental package which is good value for money.

About the village

The best thing about a stay in this resort is that accommodation in Innsbruck doesn't have to cost you the earth. In fact, it is possible to find a lodge for two people, for 7 days or more, costing under 500 Euros during the peak ski season! If you fancy upgrading to a hotel, Innsbruck has a myriad of establishments, ranging from comfortable 2 and 3 star venues, right up to grand 5 star places.

Most of the nightlife happens in the hotel bars rather than a designated apres ski centre but the large student population makes this a lively place. Much of the action takes place in the square of the old town where there are lots of bars and cafés. Popular bars include the Piano Bar, Irish Pub and the Elfer House. The Hofgarten café is a great place for good food and good company. There are also dozens of nightclubs and a large casino offering spectacular views of the mountains at night.

Innsbruck itself boasts a number of shopping centres offering everything from souvenirs through to high fashion and accessories.
