Radstadt lies in the Salzburg region in Austria, linked to Altenmarkt. In fact, Radstadt makes up part of the Salzburger Sportwelt Ski Area, where a lift ticket gives access to Altenmarkt and Flachau, Goldegg, Wagrain, Zauchensee, Kleinarl, St Johann-Alpendorf, Filzmoos and the like. Radstadt itself has 20 km of pistes (15 ski runs); however, combined with Altenmarkt and the others, there are over 100 individual ski runs hightailing over 1200 total kilometers. The lowest piste and resort altitude linger around 900 meters, with the highest reachable piste at 1571 meters. The longest slope in Radstadt-Altenmarkt proper is 3 km long, with a total elevation drop of 716 meters, though it is fast and furious. Radstadt has 8 km of blue runs (6 pistes) and 12 km red runs (4 pistes) with heaps of black runs at the other nearby ski areas. The Radstadt ski area can supplement its own snow with 44 snow cannons and get people to the top with 4 ski lifts; 30 km of cross-country skiing awaits those who like to add more effort to their Austria ski vacation. The Salzburger Sportwelt Ski Area furnishes several places to go snowboarding for the boarders of the group. The ski slopes open around the middle of December. They remain open until nature either quits making snow or makes temperatures too hot. Usually, skiers and boarders call it quits around mid April.

Radstadt-Altenmarkt Accommodation:
Radstadt-Altenmarkt is just at the right elevation to have an all-out alpine feel. Thus, the hotels and chalets are a part of (and not apart from) the environment. Many reasonably priced three and four (and five) star hotels have immediate access to the pistes, with most having storage room for snow gear. Other lodges and apartments in the area are popular with larger groups of families or friends.
